Abstract
The beach or bath slippers are manufactured by blanking or injection molding of a plane shape of plastic material reproducing the outline of the whole unfolded slipper consisting of a sole, a vamp or uppers formed of at least one extension projecting from the sole, and at least one fastening means or tongue projecting either from the outline of the sole itself or from one of said extensions forming the vamp, said tongue being introduced into corresponding buttonholes or through holes provided in said extensions forming the vamp.
Description
One-piece slipper and method of making the same.
DESCRIPTION
The present invention relates to a method for fabricating specifically bath or sea slippers in which the slipper sole, vamp and auxiliary attachments are obtained from a single flat piece which can be produced either blanking machine or by injection molding.
The object of the invention comprises also the slippers obtained through the above method.
A number of bath or seaside slippers are known which are made of rubber or plastic material wherein the slipper vamp comprises a single string or band attached at its ends to the sole at several portions.In order to attach to the slipper sole the belts or strips forming the vamp of the slippers, stitching or glueing have been used or even couplings whereby the ends of said strings and bands are passed through holes which are provided through the slipper hole and are locked at the opposite side by means of suitable bulges which prevent said string and bands from being drawn out of the sole. On the contrary according to this invention all the components of the complete slipper are included in the starting piece of elastic material and the only operation needed for forming a slipper comprises the fitting together of all the portions of said flat piece of material.
In other terms fabrication of a slipper
according to this invention comprises the steps of preparing a flat piece of uniform thickness made of an elastic material, the outline of which is the same of the unfolded slipper, which flat piece could be called developed planfor of the slipper. Said flat piece could be obtained either by blanking or by injection molding a plastic material.
Therefore the present invention provides either by blanking or by injection molding a plane shape of plastic material which reproduces the outline of the whole unfolded slipper consisting of the sole, the vamp and the fastening means forming all together a flat piece, so that the vamp and the fastening means project from the sole and can be connected after their folding either to at least one projection of the sole itself or to one another by means of a male-female coupling, consisting of at least one tongue projecting from said plane shape of the slipper and at least one correspond¬ ing buttonhole provided in at least one opposite projection of said plane shape.
By such an arrangement, after blanking or injection molding of the plane shape, a slipper is provided by folding and connecting to one another the at least one projection forming the vamp and the at least one corresponding tongue without sewing, stitch¬ ing, glueing any part of the slipper.
The description of the invention and further advantages will become more evident from the following description with reference to the attached drawings wherein the object of the invention is illustrated. In the drawings:
Fig. 1 illustrates the outline of the developed
slipper according to a first embodiment thereof;
Fig. 2 shows the folding step of the slipper on to the sole ;
Fig. 3 shows the top view of the slipper after the connection of the vamp to a tongue;
Fig. 4 shows the top view of the slipper comprising several projections according to a second embodiment of the invention.
With reference to fig. 1 the flat sheet of uniform thickness of a rubber or plastic material is punched by a blanking machine according to a continuous line which comprises the outline of the developed planform of a slipper. The slipper sole is designated by 6 and a first sole-extension forming the vamp by 8. A buttonhole or through hole 10 is provided at the end of extension 8. A second sole-extension is shown which is much smaller than extension 8 and carries an enlarged tongue 12 at its end which is intended for cooperating with said buttonhole 10. After preparing the developed planform sheet of the slipper, the worker folds the extension 8 above the sole 6, as shown in Fig. 2, and restrains it at the opposite side, due to the elastic property of the material capable of being deformed, by means of the shorter extension 12 which is inserted into the buttonhole 10 whereby a slipper is obtained as shown in
Fig. 3.
As shown, a slipper is fabricated through steps which are very simple and feasible by workers which are not specialized.
From what above it is self evident that the invention is not bound to the particular shape of the
slipper but the teaching of this inventions allows the most different models to be manufactured with various aesthetic and practical effects.
Reference is made, for instance, to the slipper of Fig.4, in which the extensions 8 forming the vamp are in a number of three and are tied to one another above the sole by coupling the buttonholes provided in the first two extensions to the tongue 12 provided in the lower extension.
Claims
1) A method for fabricating a beach or bath slipper which method comprises the steps of forming for each slipper a single continuous flat piece of elastic material of uniform thickness, which flat piece comprises all the components required for forming a complete wearable and usable slipper; folding and inserting together all the connect- able portions of said flat piece as required for imparting to said flat piece the form of a slipper.
2. A method for fabricating a beach or bath slipper as per claim 1 wherein the step of forming said continuous flat piece of elastic material comprises the blanking of said piece of material from a flat uniform sheet of elastic material.
3. A method for fabricating a beach or bath slipper as per claim 1 wherein the step of forming said continuous flat piece of constant thickness of elastic material comprises injecting into a molding having the shape of said piece a liquid plastic material.
4. A beach or bath slipper provided by the methods of blanking or injection molding a flat shape of elastic material, characterized in that it reproduces the outline of the whole unfolded slipper consisting of the sole, the vamp formed of at least one extension projecting from said sole as well as at least one fastening means or tongue projecting either from said sole or from said fastening means or tongue being introduced in corresponding buttonholes or through holes provided in said at least one extension forming the vamp which is not provided with said tongue.
