    Scarborough Council has announced the fireworks plans for New Year’s Eve 2022. According to media reports, a flamboyant display of fireworks will light up the night sky in Scarborough during the first few minutes after midnight to celebrate the New Year.

    A report by The Scarborough News suggested that the planned fireworks display will run for six minutes. Fireworks are expected to begin at midnight to add a special touch to the local festivities and boost the visitor economy. The fireworks display will reportedly begin behind that Scarborough Spa and offer the best view from the Esplanade on South Cliff.
    Overlooking the Yorkshire Coast, the night sky on New Year’s Eve is expected to be a spectacle for the visitors to the town. The town is expected to have a decent influx of people who are likely to visit to celebrate the New Year with friends and family. The fireworks display includes glittering showers, whirls, and sparkles, in a planned sequence that would make the display a piece to remember.

    Scarborough is regarded as a visitor’s delight and was ranked the second-best district to visit in England in 2016, falling short only of London. The town is also known for its large student population, thanks to more than 64 schools.

    On the political side, the Scarborough Council, the organizer of the fireworks display, is in its last days and is all set to be replaced by a county-wide unitary authority.

    Per media reports, the seven district councils and borough authorities in North Yorkshire will cease to exist after March 31, 2023. A unitary government body will be constituted that shall seize the authority of the ceremonial county. Thus, the fireworks display for welcoming the New Year holds special importance among the residents of Scarborough.
