Taylor Swift knows fans are looking for confirmation of her breakup with Joe Alwyn, but she's not going to give it to them just yet. On April 13, Swift made her first stop on the Eras Tour since news of the split went public earlier this month. Per Page Six, she told the sold-out Tampa crowd, “Is it just me or do we have a lot of things to catch up on?”

Despite her laissez-faire attitude, the pop star did have a message to fans ahead of her performance of the romantic 2019 track “Lover.” As one fan captured in a TikTok video, she basically told the crowd to let her songs speak for themselves. “Some of these songs are about my life; some of these songs are about fictional characters I created,” Swift said in the clip. “But my hope in all of this is that, at the end of the day, these songs will be songs that you think are about your own life. And the song that we're about to play next…it's just a love song, you know?”

TikTok user @swift.3ditor captioned the clip, “I think she wants us to mind our business.”

This message comes after fans went into detective mode over a recent set-list shake-up that occurred just before the breakup reports went public. On March 31, Swift switched out the Folklore love song “Invisible String” for “The 1,” a song about lost love, and the change has remained in place ever since, which many took as confirmation of the split. In the comments of this latest video, fans speculated that Swift was giving them a “telling off” for looking for breakup Easter eggs or claiming certain songs off the Lover album were “ruined” because of the breakup, particularly “Lover” and “Cornelia Street.”

A source recently told People that Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn split over “differences in their personalities” that became apparent after leaving their insulated relationship “bubble.” The source said Alwyn “struggled” with Swift's level of fame, while the 33-year-old pop star “didn't see them working out in the long run.”

“[Taylor] doesn't have anything bad to say about Joe,” the source added. “They just grew apart. Taylor is staying very focused on her tour right now.”
