MOTT, ND — An unprecedented event is set to unfold at the Hettinger County fairgrounds in Mott, located at 831 East ND Hwy 21, on the evening of Dec. 30. The festivities, starting at 6 P.M., will unfold over the course of the evening, leading up to a groundbreaking fireworks show scheduled for 10 P.M.
The planned fireworks display is poised to redefine conventional standards. Typical fireworks shows, known for their diverse patterns and bursts of color, usually last about 15 to 20 minutes and feature an assortment of effects like cascades, horsetails, and glittering comets. In stark contrast, the Mott event's climax is a meticulously orchestrated two-minute finale, where a staggering 5,000 fireworks are set to be launched, potentially setting a new global standard in fireworks displays.
Enhancing the festive atmosphere, "Sons of Sinners," a band hailing from Rapid City, will deliver a dynamic musical performance. Their repertoire, expected to resonate well with the diverse audience, will provide a lively soundtrack to the evening. In tandem, a selection of smoked barbecue dishes, a staple in local culinary preferences, along with a variety of beverages supplied by local businesses, will be available to attendees, ensuring a comprehensive sensory experience.
Garrison Risener, a representative from the Hettinger County Activities Department, has highlighted the community's role in this grand venture. The revenue generated from various segments of the event, including music and food, will be channelled back into the County Fair, supporting its continuity and growth.
This collaboration with Codybpyrotechnics and Dominator Fireworks brings together expertise and creativity in the field of pyrotechnics. Risener revealed the estimated retail value of the fireworks to be around $110,000, a figure that underscores the magnitude of the event.
